Christy Calhoun is an accomplished, innovative leader in health information technology and patient education. In her role as SVP of Consumer Health Experiences at Healthwise, Christy promotes health literacy while helping people make better health decisions.
In partnership with the Chief Medical Officer at Healthwise, Dr. Adam Husney, Christy leads the Content Solutions Team, which creates Healthwise patient education and keeps it medically accurate and consistent. Christy is passionate about listening to patients and clinicians to understand their health needs, goals and challenges. She draws on patient perspective to help strengthen relationships of care through the solutions Healthwise develops. In collaboration with others at Healthwise, she advocates for patient voice to be infused in everything Healthwise develops – from videos, and tools for shared decision-making, to health behavior change content.
She is a collaborative innovator of client solutions that meet patient and provider needs for health education. Christy leads the team that develops health information in plain language at Healthwise, which offers flexible, innovative, trusted health education solutions that support patients on a healthcare journey.
Christy’s experience in public health, bilingual health education and health behavior change methods was enriched by her work as an advocate for women and communities in challenged areas of Latin America, Africa and border areas of the United States. She is a team-builder who inspires strength and collaboration with a focus on results.
Christy is a graduate of the Health Innovation and Design Thinking program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and has a Master’s degree in Public Health from San Diego State University. She holds a B.A. in International Studies and Spanish, and she completed a post-graduate program in Health and Environmental Education at Universidad Nacional, Costa Rica.
